Access Projects Throughout Career
Luera Road Access/Easement, Catron County, 2014 project with SLO, RMEF and NMDGF. Provided continued access to approximately 60 sections through an easement paid for by RMEF and NMDGF Open Gate program. The right of way was transferred to the NMDGF upon completion.
Graham Springs, Chaves County, 2014 project with SLO and NMDGF. Put in a gate that was fenced through by the lessee. Provided access to approximately 80 sections of BLM and STL (Received NMDGF Award of Excellence 2014)
Whites Peak Access, Mora County, 2017 project with RMEF and SLO. This project was a cooperative venture between the State Land Office, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and a private contractor. Access to 12,000 acres of State Trust Land was landlocked and surrounded by private property. At least two different state land lessees were selling trespass interests across small partials of private to the landlocked trust lands. A small 200 acre partial was identified overlapping a Mora county Road. RMEF and the SLO identified access by way of old logging road dating back to the 1950’s. A contractor was paid by RMEF to update the overgrown roads and bisect an internal ranch road network. The right of way was then transferred to the NMDGF.
Monte Prieto Access, Socorro County, 2017 Project between SLO and the Dona Ana County Consolidated Sportsman. The SLO identified an old two track road and an access on a fence line that was previously fenced through. The SLO identified the two track road network that penetrated a different lease still on STL. SFW purchased a new gate and allowed access to an additional 107 sections of landlocked STL.
